Page 1 of 5 Service Birmingham choose NetMotion Wireless
Over the last three years, Service Birmingham has implemented major enhancements to the Council's ICT infrastructure. They have consolidated seven service desks into two and are rationalising 550 applications to 150. As a result, email speed is up 500%, traffic has grown 30% and reliability has increased significantly. The number of help desk calls now answered within 20 seconds has increased from 40% to nearly 90%. Impressed by this performance, the Council has expanded Service Birmingham's role. The Council is undertaking a Business Transformation programme, which is the largest and most ambitious of its kind. As the Council's Strategic Partner, Service Birmingham is contributing to the delivery of Business Transformation by working alongside the Council to identify opportunities for service improvements. Business Transformation is a long-term programme, and Service Birmingham's goal is to help the Council to deliver cost savings of £1billion over ten years through more efficient ways of working. The Corporate Services Transformation programme has already made significant cost savings for the Council. As an integral part of this transformation, the organisation has a target of improving effectiveness by enhanced secure connectivity for (eventually) around 10,000 mobile workers, starting with the first 3,000. Another goal is looking to mobilise the Council workforce and reduce cost of building and office estate by allowing users to work from multiple locations not necessarily connected to the Council's own network. A solution is sought to help smooth the cultural transition for thousand of council staff using mobile and agile working practices.
